Our Community Outreach

“To bring others ‘Towards Jesus,’ as we strive to demonstrate ‘loving your neighbor as yourself’ and share the message of Hope found in following Christ.”

This all started 12 years ago...

Allison Bruflat brought her Brownies unit with a need. Those young girls noticed some of their classmates came to school on Mondays lethargic. It was as if they had eaten very little over the weekend! They asked if we could help in supplying food to give these children for the weekends. Of course, no child should go hungry! This grew into Caring about Nutrition, CAN.

RayPec Public School Foundation picked this up. We continue as one of their major supporters. We have also joined with them in their Adopt-A-School program, and Adopt families for Christmas.

Family Outreach

Hope Haven - a Women's Shelter in Harrisonville is one of our ministries / missions.

Many of the elementary students in Cass County do not have dental insurance. Therefore, they lack care for their teeth. We support Cass Community Health Foundation which provides a FREE dental clinic. Youth is so important to our future. Unfortunately the majority do not live in Christ-centered homes. It is a society living outside of God’s teaching and life skills.

First Church of Peculiar supports both Collektive Company / Damion Cooper in the Lee’s Summit schools and North Cass Young Life / Grace Anderson in RayPec and Grandview.

USA Flag

America is the home of the free. To keep us free we rely on our many Armed Service Personnel. First Church of Peculiar has joined with the Prairie Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, to send care packages to our active troops on a regular basis. First Church of Peculiar hosts the Annual Easter and Christmas observance for the Knights Templar of Missouri. Last year Palestine Commandery No. 17, in Independence, and Kansas City Commandery No. 10 asked us to help in their “Toys for Tots” drive. Together with Ivanhoe Lodge No. 446 we provided two truck loads of new toys!

List Title

They conduct stem cell research, under Dr. Michael Murphy at Indiana University, Center for Vascular Biology and Medicine. They are researching and finding cures for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms, Arthritis, Cancer, Diabetes, Heart Failure, Pancreatitis, Peripheral Arterial Disease and Stroke. None of us are getting younger or healthier. They are finding the cures before we need them.

Others we support are: ● Hands and Feet of Jesus KC / Scoot Stoner -helping the homeless. ● Wreaths Across America - Recognizing and honoring Veterans with a Christmas wreath in two cemeteries. ● Caring Hearts of Peculiar ● Local Scout Troops

It is not about us! It is what we allow God to accomplish through us!
